    Our Story

    The Beginning

MacFaden Guitars  was started a few years ago more as a hobby. I owned a carpentry buisiness building cabinets and built ins, etc..  Working on guitars was just side work.

We realize we live off the beaten path and out in the rurals, but with the shop attached to the house my overhead is much less and I can reflect the savings on to you, the customer.

    Expanding Our Services

Some of you will remember that I started in my office in a back room in my house. This presented many challenges of it's own. I then converted half of my garage into a proper "but small" work shop. During Hurricane Helene, a group of 5 trees fell dierctly on my shop. At this point my wife and I had to decide if we should rebuild and keep this dream alive. Well, we did! I built an addition over my whole garage and will be reopening soon!!!    The new shop bosts 575 sq ft, multiple work benches, a soldering station, and a place for more retail.

As demand for our services grew, we expanded our offerings to include detailed set-ups, replacing electronics, custom nut and saddles. We will be building custom made guitars in our new shop. Today, MacFaden Guitars  is a one-stop-shop for all your guitar repair needs.

    Our Name Explained

One of the most asked questions that I get. Where did the name come from?

MacFaden is an old family name on my wifes side. My name is Dan Hubbard and I own and run the guitar shop. I am the only guitar tech to work here.

At MacFaden Guitars we believe that everybody would enjoy playing and learning the guitar if it was set-up to it's full potential. If it looks plays and feels the it's best you will enjoy your expiriance to the full.

I view every guitar as a personal project.

We are happy that you chose MacFaden Guitars. We are an independent Service that offers setups and repairs. We are not employees of the customer. We will do our best to complete work in a timely manner. However, due to our work load and the need to order parts and supplies, time restrictions may be out of our control.

    • Customer responsibility:
      • Please be clear. We assume that the guitar / instrument has no other issues beyond what is identified by the customer.
      • We do a visual inspection at the time of drop off. We are not responsible for any existing or hidden damage that is not apparent during that visual inspection. This includes electronics, chips, scratches, cracks, abrasions, and general wear.
      • If you would like any parts saved or returned to you please mention ahead of time.
      • All work must be paid in full at the time of picking up the instrument.
    • Right to refuse service:
      • We reserve the right to refuse any repair request for any reason. This may even be for work that is outside of our expertise.
    • Difficult Repairs:
      • For challenging materials or repairs to structural damage such as cracks, warps, checks in the finish, removal of binding or fretboards, neck resets, etc.. cosmetic perfection may not always be possible.
      • I will perform all work as carefully and skillfully as possible. However, the customer assumes responsibility if they are requesting any drilling or routering done to the instrument. This also includes changes to the finish of the instrument.
    • Disclaimer on Warranty and limitations:
      • Setups and repairs are warranted for 14 days. Customers must examine instrument(s) and report any issues in text or email or writing along with pictures if possible, that were a result of services provided within this 14 day time period.
    • Warranty excludes improper storage, neglect, misuse, new damage or an attempt to fix or readjust anything that was done here in the shop. (You must bring it back to the shop for inspection)
    • We reserve the option to redo the work and/or examine the guitar in person to address any issues or dissatisfaction.
    • The possibility of a refund will be given only at the discretion of our shop. Any refund would be for labor not parts, shipping, or any other expenses incurred during the project.
    • Expectations of things like the tone of new components are not covered by warranty.
    • customer-supplied parts:
      • We are not responsible for the condition, fitment, functionality, or suitability of parts provided by the customer. We are happy to use strings provided by the customer, however we cannot cover them in a warranty that they are fresh or that won’t break.
    • Abandonment policy:
      • The customer must pick up their instrument within 90 days of being notified of completion. We will make at least three documented attempts to contact you through phone, text, messaging, email, etc..
      • Items left unclaimed after this period will be considered abandoned and subject to liquidation without compensation.
      • If you simply cannot pick up the instrument you may pay the invoice in full online and make arrangements as to when you can pick it up.
    • Estimates / Payments:
      • Estimates are not guaranteed pricing. We will give you as close an estimate as possible and try to stay within that cost. Due to unforeseen reasons this may change some.
      • AGAIN: Invoices are to be paid in full at the time of pickup unless written agreement ahead of time. Otherwise, the instrument will not be released.

    Thank you!
