    Repairs, Setups & Upgrades

From routine setups to more involved repairs, MacFaden Guitars provides careful, hands-on service for acoustic, electric, and bass guitars. Services include fretwork, electronics and pickup installation, custom nuts, bridge and hardware repairs, and upgrades. Every instrument is evaluated individually, and recommended

    Our Story

    The Beginning

MacFaden Guitars started as a hobby while I was running a carpentry business building cabinets and custom built-ins. What began as occasional guitar work gradually grew as more players came to me for setups, repairs, and upgrades.

Working from a shop at my home allows me to keep overhead lower than a traditional retail shop while providing personal, one-on-one service. That helps me keep my pricing reasonable without cutting corners on the work.

    Expanding Our Services

MacFaden Guitars started in a small back room of my house and later moved into part of my garage. Then Hurricane Helene changed things unexpectedly when several trees fell directly onto the shop.

Rather than walk away, my wife and I decided to rebuild and make the shop better than before. The new 575-square-foot workspace gives me dedicated workbenches, a soldering station, and more room for setups, fretwork, electronics, custom nuts and saddles, repairs, upgrades, and other guitar work.

What started as a hobby has grown into a dedicated workshop built around taking care of players and their instruments.

    Our Name Explained

One question I get a lot is, “Where did the name MacFaden come from?” MacFaden is an old family name from my wife’s side of the family. My name is Dan Hubbard, and I own and operate MacFaden Guitars. I’m also the guitar tech who personally does the work on your instrument.

I believe a properly set up guitar should look good, feel good, and make you want to play it. Every instrument and every player is different, so I approach each job individually rather than treating guitar repair like an assembly line.

I view every guitar as a personal project.

         Instrument Evaluation & Authorization

Every instrument is evaluated based on its condition when received. Please tell me about any known problems, previous repairs, modifications, or concerns. Additional issues discovered during the work will be discussed with you before performing work that materially changes the original estimate.

    Repairs & Customer-Supplied Parts

Some repairs involving damaged, aged, or previously modified instruments carry inherent risks. I will take reasonable care while performing all work and will discuss unusual risks whenever possible. Customer-supplied parts may be installed when appropriate, but I cannot guarantee their fit, quality, condition, or performance.

         Estimates & Payment

Estimates are based on the condition of the instrument and information available at the time of evaluation. If unexpected problems are discovered, I will contact you before proceeding with significant additional work or expense. Payment is due in full when the instrument is picked up unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

         Service Warranty

Setup and repair workmanship is covered for 14 days after completion. If you believe there is a problem related to the work performed, please contact me promptly so I can inspect the instrument and address it. The warranty does not cover new damage, misuse, improper storage, normal environmental changes, customer adjustments, customer-supplied parts, or personal preferences such as the tone of a replacement component.

         Unclaimed Instruments

Completed instruments should be picked up promptly after notification. Instruments remaining unclaimed for an extended period may be subject to applicable storage or abandonment procedures. Customers who need additional time should contact me to make arrangements.

         Right to Decline Service

MacFaden Guitars reserves the right to decline work that is outside the scope of the shop, cannot be performed safely or appropriately, or for other reasonable business considerations.
